We collect only what is necessary to provide the SPORE AI service.
Information you provide:
- Images you capture or upload for mushroom identification
- Inputs you enter into the exposure assessment tool (species, subject type, estimated weight, estimated amount)
- Email address if you contact support or join our waitlist
Information collected automatically:
- Device type, operating system version, and app version
- Crash reports and diagnostic data to improve stability
- Aggregate, anonymized usage statistics (e.g., number of scans per session)
- IP address (used for fraud prevention and regional compliance only)
We do not collect your name, location, or any biometric data.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Identify mushroom species and return toxicity results to you
- Calculate personalized exposure risk assessments
- Improve the accuracy of our AI models using anonymized, aggregated scan data
- Diagnose technical issues and improve app performance
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to mushroom safety intelligence.
3. Camera and Photos
SPORE AI requests access to your device camera and photo library solely to enable mushroom scanning. Images are processed to generate identification results. We do not store identifiable images on our servers beyond the time needed to return a result, unless you explicitly save a scan to your history within the app.
You may revoke camera or photo access at any time through your device settings. Revoking access will disable the scan feature but will not affect any previously saved results.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use third-party providers for cloud infrastructure, crash reporting, and analytics. These providers are contractually bound to process data only on our behalf and in accordance with this policy.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SPORE AI, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: If SPORE AI is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
Scan images sent to our servers for processing are deleted within 24 hours of generating a result. Anonymized, aggregated model-training data (no image, no identifier) may be retained indefinitely to improve accuracy.
If you create an account or save scan history, that data is retained until you delete it or request deletion of your account.
Crash and diagnostic data is retained for up to 90 days.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest, strict access controls, and regular security reviews.

7. Children
SPORE AI is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. 8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request that inaccurate data be corrected
